The equipment that captures my life!

My drone

My favourite piece of equipment is my drone – I have the DJI Mavic Air, this little buddy changed my life. For a very long time I was a solo traveler #singlelife and so had the option of selfie stick photos or asking random to take a photo of me where I look super uncomfortable. When I got my Mavic Air, my selfie game got so much better. It is the most perfect travelling companion, so small and compact. Mavic Air was $1599 when I bought it, I got the Fly More pack which includes extra batteries, a bag and charging gear. Mavic Air is no longer made but now there is a Mavic Air 2 Mavic Air 2 I haven’t tried it, but I am sure it is just as good, well probably slightly better. DJI have so many good products and I would definitely buy another DJI drone if I was on the market for one. Also you cant beat JB Hi-Fi its my number one place to go shopping for all things drone – plus they can be sweet talked into discounts.

Nusa Ceningan, Bali – back when international travel was a part of our lives #dreams

I got the DJI refresh insurance which is $129 for a year, this entitles you to two replacements – I have had one replacement, I had to pay $104 through the DJI refresh program, or I could have paid over $500 to have it repaired so it has come in handy! DJI Care Refresh – Support – DJI if you want to read all about it.

My Real Camera

Canon M50 E – I hardly use this camera, I need a lens that can zoom better but I’ve been too tight to drop the $500 for it. Maybe soon! EOS M50: Mirrorless Camera with 4K Video | Canon Australia this is a mirrorless camera which is meant to be the next best thing in the camera world. I don’t know how to use it so I mostly shoot on auto, maybe my next goal will be to learn how to use this thing!

Windin Falls QLD – drones are perfect for corny shots with your man

My Action Cam

DJI Osmo Action – I only got this in March 2021, I previously had the Go Pro Hero 7 but it always froze and ended up corroding at the door to the battery and so I couldn’t close it anymore so JBHIFI gave me my money back over a year later. Lucky, but I am a bit off Go Pro since. I do like Go Pro and apparently the Go Pro 9 is a lot better but I wanted to give the Osmo a go and so far its pretty great, there hasn’t been any issues and the photos and video are good. Osmo Action – DJI check it out! Or the new Go Pro is meant to be decent and supposedly they have fixed some of the issues that Go Pro is known for GoPro – I am not against Go Pro, just tried something different to see how it compared. So far I am happy with the Osmo Action.

My Gimbal

Kaiser Baas 3-Axis Pro Stabilized Gimbal XS3 XS3 Gimbal | Australia Adventure Tech to capture your journey (kaiserbaas.com). Laws just got me this for my birthday, its actually really cool, you can plug in your smart phone or action cam and have some fun. I use it mainly with my phone so far, it has cool features like face and object tracking so its good for following someone and the photos are so clear through the app, better then when I just use my phone for taking shots. I actually find this piece of equipment to be a lot of fun.

My Phone

I have an iPhone XR – Apple which has an average camera in it, but it does the job. I always feel like Samsung phones have better cameras but that’s a debate for another time. When attached to the gimbal, the iPhone photos are amazing so maybe Apple’s stabilisation isn’t that great. All in all, the drone is the best and I am so thankful for the photos I can take with it, seeing the world from another point of view just makes it beautiful all over again.
